Do you think you can hit a golf ball further than Tiger Woods? How about beat Kevin Durant in one on one? Do you believe you can throw a football further than Sam Bradford? Of course not. Why? Because they are professionals and professionals practice their sport.
They train in and out of season, because they realize those specific skills are perishable. This is what we run into in the shooting industry. People think that they can pull their gun out of the holster twice a year and shoot like Annie Oklie. Truth being, there are a lot of fundamentals to shooting and unless they are learned correctly and practiced often, you will learn, only when you need to use those skills, that they are gone.
Following are just a few reasons why we consider training so important. So whether you choose to train with us or you choose to train with another group, the importance to training cannot be left to figure out when upon realizing you need to call on it.
Optimum Utilization of Skills – Training and Practice help in optimizing the skills that further help the shooter to become confident in their abilities.
Development of Skills – Training and Practice help increase the knowledge and limits for the individual shooter and their chosen firearm.
Efficiency – Training and Practice help decrease the amount of wasted efforts most shooters experience, either in their individual movements or in how they manipulate their firearms.

Pistol Skills 4
With the fundamental pistol shooting skills already mastered, students in Pistol Skills 4 are now ready to learn real fighting or competition skills. Pistol Skills 4 places a strong emphasis on foot work and movement. Every drill will involve some movement, and shooting while moving will be covered in detail. Pistol Skills 5
Statistics show that most violent encounters occur during the hours of darkness. Pistol Skills 5 is an in-depth study of pistol shooting in low light environments. Low light shooting, both with and without a flashlight are covered in detail. Students in this class can also expect exciting, stressful drills that will test all the skills covered in earlier classes.
Time: 4 hours
Cost: $125.00

Equipment needed:
Same as Pistol Skills 4 plus:

A graduate of Pistol Skills 5 will have great confidence, and the skills to back it up! This shooter is now prepared for virtually any situation found in either real life or the competitive field.
Defensive Shotgun
The shotgun is the most feared, and misunderstood weapons platform commonly found in America. It is incredibly powerful and much easier to make hits with than any handgun. While it is touted commonly as the easiest to use of all the defensive tools, and the ideal tool for the beginner or less serious shooter, it requires more manipulation than the other choices. This class is ultimately focused on the manipulation of the tool itself.
Class will start with basic level manipulations, loading and unloading. Then we will work on recoil management and multiple target drills. The loading / unloading skills will then be used as a means to keep the shotgun loaded, and reloading it efficiently, in high round count drills. Once mastered, the very limited magazine capacity of the typical shotgun is hardly a disadvantage.
Time: 6 hours
Cost: $250.00
Pre-requisite: Home Defense Shotgun
Equipment needed:
Shotgun appropriate for defensive shooting
75 rounds bird shot
15 rouds of buckshot
Hearing and eye protection
Ball cap
Carbine Skills 1
This class introduces the defensive use of the most versatile weapons platform available: the short rifle. While intended primarily for magazine fed semi auto rifles, lever action carbines are particularly welcome. Proper use of a carbine will allow you to control your environment, and contain threats from 0 to several hundred yards. No other piece of personal equipment can offer such benefit. This class stresses carbine work from 0 to 50 yards, the ranges most likely to be encountered for the civilian defensive shooter.
Time: 8 hours
Cost: $250.00
Pre-requisites: None
Equipment needed:
Carbine appropriate for defensive shooting
Carry strap on the carbine
At least 3 rifle magazines
200 rounds of factory ammo for rifle
Daily carry handgun
concealment holster and sturdy belt
at least 2 pistol magazines
100 rounds training ammo for the pistol
hearing and eye protection
Ball cap
Carbine Skills 1 will include efficient administrative handling of a carbine, firing positions, and manipulations from a sling. A graduate of this class will not only be efficient in engaging targets at expected threat ranges, they will be comfortable handling and “living with” their carbine.
Defensive Handgun 1
Handgun 1 is our off-site handgun class. It brings together the full curriculum of Pistol Skills 2, and 3 into a fast-paced 8 hour class away from our home range. Without the time required for review in the standard series of classes, we are able to include more applications for each skill presented in about the same number of hours. It will be a fast paced and intense training experience. We’ll start with fundamental skills of grip, stance, use of sights, trigger control, and use of a holster and begin to add precision speed shooting, reloads, and stoppage reduction. There will be a lot of material covered in a very intense day! Come prepared to spend a full day outdoors. Pistols work fine in the weather. Let’s be sure the shooters do also!

Instructor Development Course
CLEET has approved this class for use in applying to be an SDA instructor. If you’ve ever wanted to certify and license to teach the carry class here in Oklahoma, here is an opportunity for quality training towards that goal!
This class will be 20 hours of challenging, interesting, and fun material. It will include both a written and a shooting test to pass. This class will prove sufficiently challenging and those who successfully complete it will experience both pride and a great sense of accomplishment.
Since this is the longest class we have ever offered, it will also be the most expensive. In order to keep this class affordable to all who might be interested, I am devising a “tuition rebate” plan. I will apply a portion of any tuition you have already paid to Oklahoma Shooting Skills for a handgun class towards the instructor class. This plan will keep the class comparable in pricing to any comparable class, and a real bargain for our existing student base.
Time: 20 hours
Cost: $600.00 (refer to the “tuition rebate” plan explained above)
Pre-requisites: PS 3 or above
Equipment needed: Handgun
250 rounds of ammunition, ballcap, hearing, and eye protection
Neglected Platforms
This is an outdoor class designed to train and practice those defensive firearms we are least likely to train, but most likely to use in an emergency. Many of us own full sized handguns, and shoot them often, but regularly carry a sub-compact, pocket sized pistol. Many of us carry a sub-compact in addition to a full sized pistol as a back up. Many of us keep a shotgun as a primary home defense tool, and very few of us ever really train with either. This class is a half day of sub-compact handgun followed by a half day of shotgun.
Time:8 hours
Cost: $250.00
Equipment needed:
Handgun
Sturdy belt, holster
an efficient means of reloading the handgun
150 rounds of handgun ammunition
shotgun suitable for defensive work (I prefer pump action, but others are acceptable)
75 rounds of birdshot, 15 rounds of buckshot
Hearing & Eye Protection
Ball cap
Weather appropriate clothing
Sun Screen
Insect repellent
